Women in Sport - a series of interviews
I have enjoyed playing (to the best of my limited ability) and watching sport for as long as I can remember; and have been incredibly fortunate to have met some amazing athletes as part of my attempts to raise mental health awareness over the past few years. I even had the chance to "challenge" (a definite misnomer) some of them at the sports in which they excel; and whether it be badminton, table tennis, swimming, darts, netball, cricket or even a very brief excursion into a boxing ring, it's fair to say my efforts ranged from the distinctly average to embarrassingly bad - but every experience gave me memories to treasure ... well perhaps apart from the boxing!
Now that those challenges are completed, I have decided to combine my passions for mental health, writing and sport - specifically women's sport - by arranging a series of interviews with female athletes from right across the sporting spectrum. From Olympic, Paralympic medallists and international athletes to youngsters striving for sporting excellence, and all stages in between, everyone has a story to tell; and hopefully I will be trusted to share some of those inspiring stories: the memories, the successes, the adversity, and the physical and mental challenges that sport - and sometimes life can present
