Grangetown’s defeat away at Team Jets last Sunday was the Jersey club’s first win in Prem 2 and the result saw Grangetown drop to the foot of the division.
It is incredibly tight at the bottom of the table however, with five teams separated by a single point, each having recorded one victory from their opening four games; and Grangetown host Premier Romans at Middlesbrough Sports Village on Sunday at 12:30pm knowing that victory could actually move them into the top five.
“We were really disappointed with last week’s result,” said Grangetown captain Vicky Rees. “We struggled to maintain consistency in the first half; and didn't adapt quickly enough to the Jets’ style of play. After a few changes, we flew out of the blocks in the second half and really put Jets on the back foot. We actually won the third quarter, but their lead was just too much for us to mount a challenge in the final period.
“The girls came away from St. Helier with plenty to work on and, on a positive note, it was good to see us working so hard for each other to mount a strong comeback in the third quarter.
“We look forward to welcoming Premier Romans to Middlesbrough on Sunday,” Vicky continued. “We have a full squad with plenty of depth, something we were lacking last week in Jersey. We've worked hard at training this week; the whole squad is looking sharp and we’re definitely ready for this next match. We know what we need to do to win the game, and we'll be putting it into practice on Sunday.”
