It’s been week of surprises on the writing front... firstly, I’ve sold a total of ten copies of my books about actresses Jean Harlow and Marilyn Monroe (woohoo!!!) and then I received an e-mail asking to review Something Had to Give... my attempted biography of Ms Monroe.
The sender of the e-mail was a young lady called Michelle Morgan, who has written several books about the woman whose initials she shares including Marilyn Monroe: Private and Undisclosed and the upcoming A Brief History of Marilyn Monroe... Michelle has been on The One Show too!
Now normally, that would fill most people with excitement. Me?
This is a proper author what is good at grammar, doesn’t make spilling mistakes and knows her subject inside out... I’m kind of the opposite and the prospect of posting off a copy of the book to Michelle feels a bit like handing in a piece of scribbled homework to a stern teacher...
So by way of an “apple for teacher”, I’m also sending Michelle my Doctor Who book Desperately Seeking Susan Foreman... it’s a gesture that basically says “please be kind!!!”....
Seriously, I’m actually flattered that someone who is much more of an expert in her field is willing to have a look at my book... I’ll certainly let you know what Michelle thinks... well... any good bits... blogger’s privilege and all that...
Michelle has her own site: www.michelle-morgan.blogspot.com so if you’re interested in all things Monroe, then click
Finally, one last bit of book news... my quest to obtain a signed photo from as many current and former Coronation Street barmaids (as yet untitled... suggestions welcome) has a first success to report... Gail (then Potter), played by Helen Worth, only spent a few days behind the bar in 1976, but no matter... one down... loads to go...
All my own work... almost.
