People have many different reasons for writing and publishing blogs. I have seen articles by my Facebook friends Sara and Sharon, who use their respective blogs to talk about (maybe even offload..?) ongoing health issues in a way that’s impersonal enough to include the kind of detail you maybe would shy away from face-to-face, but still personal enough to affect the reader. To an extent I have done this myself... it’s not an appeal for sympathy, nor perhaps is it a desire for some sort of acceptance... (although those messages I received meant an awful lot...); for me it was simply the knowledge or realisation that I could (and did) open up... whether or not people chose to read what I had written was to a certain extent irrelevant. It was a release...
I also try to write stuff that makes people smile... or random articles about random subjects that provide some level of passing interest... On average I get about 100 visitors to my site when I post a link to a blog... I think that’s pretty good... even though my wife Elaine is 84 of them...
I also take a peek at the blogs uploaded by my brill author buddy Michelle Morgan, whose work is being recognised nay acclaimed far and wide... the world is indeed her literary lobster. Anyway, I look in just to see if she’s plugging my books as often as I mention hers... Only one of us needs the money...
Impoverished ageing writer, 48, tall, handsome, deluded with poor eyesight, GSOH, seeks lots of book sales to make him very wealthy indeed.
One of my current projects is about the Canadian-born silent actress Marie Prevost – the inspiration to find out what I could about this ill-fated young woman came from articles posted by Stacia Kissick Jones via http://shebloggedbynight.com – if you like movies, then there’ll definitely be something to interest you... her style is in some ways similar to mine in that there are some nice humorous asides (but her subject knowledge is light years ahead of me). Actually, I believe Stacia is currently penning a book about Marie... I’m sure it will be really good... better than mine... but mine will be finished first!!!
All my own work... almost.
