Row 1,000,000 metres by Christmas 2020
Following on from the 50km row, I have set myself another indoor rowing challenge – to complete one million metres before Christmas 2020. To put that into some sort of perspective, 1,000,000m is 1,000km, which equates to just over 620 miles. I’ve rowed the equivalent of Dover to Cap Gris-Nez (the shortest English Channel crossing), but if I had headed north instead and rowed for 620 miles, I would have reached … Inverness.
Obviously, rowing on roads would be a foolish thing to attempt, but (with the map as a guide) you now have some idea of what will be involved for me to tick off challenge no. 107. The “thermometer” will track my undoubtedly slow progress, but hopefully I’ll make it to the Highlands with time to spare…
