In an all-too-rare coffee (or hot chocolate) break at work recently, we were discussing music. Given that there are only four of us in our office, the diversity of tastes is surprising and it is equally interesting that despite an age range spanning nearly a quarter of a century, it is the oldest member of the quartet (and that would be me...) who has by far the best taste..!
In between listening to Jay-Z (c)rapping on about his 99 problems – not including the b*tch I’m happy to confirm – this question was posed: if you could go and see one current artist or band in concert, who would it be?
Well there’s certainly plenty to choose from, but in ascending age order, Steph opted for the American rock band Lifehouse - don’t know much about them, but from the little I’ve heard, I’d say it was a decent choice. Karlie picked Rihanna, but admitted it was a difficult decision... it would have been a whole lot harder had B*witched not gone their separate ways. My boss Colin plumped for The Killers... good band and a major relief given some of the stuff on his ipod...
My selection was the one that raised a few eyebrows (well, a maximum of six...): Killing for Company.
Any singer... any band... anyone at all... the answer stayed the same and I was encouraged to elaborate...
Would I want to disappear in amongst tens of thousands of fans to admittedly listen to some great music and probably see an elaborate show, but all from a distance? Or would I prefer to meet up with friends and listen to five mates play some of the best rock music you could wish to hear, before having a chat and a few beers afterwards?
Not sure it could get any better...
All my own work... almost.
