On 12th February 1986, I became a father for the first time with the birth of my daughter Leigh-Ann in York’s District Hospital.
I must admit, I have watched a few episodes of One Born Every Minute over recent weeks and I am still amazed by the sheer wonder of childbirth... I’m also amazed by how loud some of the mother’s can scream, but I’m reliably informed that giving birth is on a completely different pain level to man ‘flu...
Anyway, Leigh-Ann celebrates her birthday on Sunday... making me feel every single one of my 47 years in the process. She’s grown into a lovely young woman... I’m very proud of her and it’s right to say she is a credit to her mother Sarah and also to her step-father Ian. Although she lives in London, I’m hoping to meet up with Leigh-Ann later this month and even though I’ve sent a (very tasteful) card and will ring her on Sunday, I just wanted, through my blog, to say “Happy Birthday darling xxx”.
Also celebrating a birthday on 12th February is Fiona Mutch, someone who was a very good friend to me at a difficult time in my life a few years back... We don’t see each other as often as we should – mainly because I think it’s my round – but hope you have a lovely day too Fiona xx
I had a quick glance to see if there were any famous people (or perhaps that should read “more famous”) born on
12th February... I reckon Abraham Lincoln counts... he was born in 1809; there was also ballerina turned dessert Anna Pavlova (1881) and in the more recent past, Brett Hodgson and Gethin Jones were both born on 12th February 1978... Hodgson is a former West Tigers full back and one of my favourite ever rugby league players and Gethin Jones I guess is best known for not going out with Katherine Jenkins any more...
For now though, I will close with a photo of the birthday girl taken when she was just a few hours old... and (rather
embarrassingly) this is how I looked 1980s style... not long before the hair did its disappearing act and my chins needed airbrushing!!!
Many happy returns Leigh-Ann xxxxxxxx
All my own work... almost.
